LTC Holder Advanced Carry Course (Armed First Responder) Overview
Eligibility and Certification:
Any person with a Texas License to Carry can register and take the course. This course picks up where the License to Carry Course leaves off. Get up to date on new legal issues surrounding carrying a handgun in Texas, plus learn new techniques to effectively deal with a potentially lethal situation while carrying. This is the training you DID NOT get during your LTC class!
NOTE: This course specifically meets all the requirements for qualified First Responders to carry on-duty pursuant to House Bill 1069.
Confidentiality Request:
Due to the sensitive nature of the tactics covered, students are asked to refrain from sharing course materials or techniques with non-participants to maintain the integrity of First Responder readiness. We can not allow video or audio recording of the training.

Length: 28 hours (3 days)
Student Capacity: Max 6 students
Overview:
This is an intermediate to advanced-level training program, focused on providing tactical instruction to LTC holders and certifying First Responders to carry a handgun while on duty. The curriculum integrates classroom instruction, field exercises, and proficiency demonstrations required under House Bill 1069.
Training Components:
Use of cover
Working from the holster
Administrative and emergency reloads
Shooting while moving
Low-light/no-light shooting scenarios
Shooting from non-standard positions such as supine, prone, kneeling and from barricades
Physical demonstrations of firearm proficiency
Required Handgun:
Handgun .32 cal or larger with at least three magazines or speedloaders – best success with semiauto handgun with magazine capacity > 10 rounds. Red dots are allowed but no magnified optics or lasers.

Must be fully functional and pass instructor inspection
Optical sights (scopes, lasers, holographic sights) are prohibited. Red dots are permitted.
Ammunition:
Minimum 400 rounds of training ammunition (extra recommended) – no steel case.
Protective Gear:
Over-the-ear hearing protection and clear eye protection (tinted optional)
– prescription glasses are sufficient.
Appropriate clothing:
Closed toed shoes, long pants, shirts that protect against catching brass, ball cap. Range requires over-the-ear hearing protection (available at the range) and eye protection
Holster:
Quality belt hoster. Must retain the firearm during movement. MUST be able to reholster one-handed. No appendix, crossdraw or shoulder holsters. No SERPA type holsters
Flashlight:
Handheld flashlight with a minimum output of 200 lumens (500+ lumens preferred)
LED bulb with tail cap switch (CR123A batteries recommended)
Must be a reputable, duty-grade model; rechargeable flashlights require backup batteries
Handheld light preferably less than 6 inches in length. A weapon mounted light is optional but the handheld light is mandatory. Pistols with weapon lights must have appropriate holsters.
Optional:
Weapon-mounted light with a compatible holster
Additional Information
Testing and Evaluation:
Pre-Test: Day 1 proficiency demonstration on standard Texas LTC course of fire requiring a 90% score to proceed. There are no reshoots. Anyone scoring less than 225 will not be allowed to continue in the class but may return on a future date.
Post-Test: A written final exam on Day 3 requires a minimum 90% score to pass.
There will be no time allotted for zeroing firearms or additional practice outside of course drills.
Safety and Conduct:
Strict adherence to range safety rules is mandatory. Violations will result in removal from the course.
Only enrolled students are allowed in the classroom or on the range; no guests, family members, or pets.
Physical Requirements:
Students must be capable of moving between shooting positions and standing for extended periods during drills.

Cancellation Policy
BTO Range and Training Center class cancellations and refund requests must be made via email at tara@bto-range.com. Class cancellations made within 24 hours of the course date will not receive a refund, instead, a one-time class rescheduling can be made.
